Flame Kitchen opened its doors in Acton on Nov. 2 in the Sobeys plaza, bring- ing the popular offerings of Guelph's Souvlaki Flame restaurant to town. Jerome Arulanandam, who owns both locations, said the response from the community has been great so far. "It's going very well," he said. "I had customers from here coming to Guelph to pick up food, so they're ex- cited." Flame Kitchen's menu features a mix of home- made Mediterranean and Canadian dishes, with Ar- ulanandam saying he's known for his chicken, lamb and beef souvlakis. The new restaurant is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and also for a takeout-style break- fast on weekends. Arulanandam is no stranger to the kitchen, having grown up cooking with family and working in the food industry for al- most 30 years. As many restaurants close their doors due to the pandemic, Arulanandam acknowledges there are challenges to opening an eatery in a COVID-19 era. "Yes it's tough times, but I know my food," he said. "I'm so glad I've had a good response." For further details, visit Flame Kitchen's Facebook page or flamekitchenac- ton.com.
