Beloved husband of Isabella (Isabel), cherished father to Lauraine and Maxwell and loved brother to John (Barbara) and William Jack (Martha) and uncle to nephews and nieces around the world. Marrying his life long love Isabel on July 1, 1960 in Clydebank, Scotland they soon set off on an adventure that would last for 57 years. From 1957 to 1962 Max served in Her Majesty's Armed forces as a Royal Military Policeman serving throughout Britain and Hong Kong. Returning to Scotland in 1962 and civilian life they set up home in Bathgate Scotland where Max returned to his trade as a machine fitter and repairman. In 1965 their daughter Lauraine Sandra was welcomed into the family. In 1966 Max immigrated to Canada arriving at Toronto Airport to set up a home for his wife and daughter, who soon followed. In the late 60's they bought a home in Georgetown and quickly be- came involved with the local community, Joining the ambu- lance brigade, Sons of Scotland and Royal Canadian Legion he soon started to make many friends and was always there to help out when he could. In 1971 he welcomed his son Maxwell Stewart into the world and his family was complete. Even with the high career demands of having to travel all over the world he always found time for his family and life long friends. In 1986 he was granted a Canadian then worldwide patent for the Gyro Whip, a machine that prevented workers from having to be lowered down into silos to clear blockages. The Silo storage industry in the early 90's estimated that this invention had prevented 100's of injuries and fatalities. The Gyro Whip has been consider the leading industry standard and is still being manufactured today and use throughout the world. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but has left cherished memories, hours of laughter and so many tales of ad- venture and mischief. To quote another fine Scots- man, Robert Burns. My Heart is in the Highlands, my heart is not here; My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer; A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe, My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go. The rolling stream of life rolls on. But still the vacant chair recalls the love, the voice, the smile of the one who once sat there. We are sad within our memory, lonely are our hearts today; for the one we loved so dearly has forever been called away. We think of you in silence, no eye may see us weep; but many silent tears are shed when others are asleep.
