Magnus Cards, a free app developed by Toronto- based Magnusmode, as- sists people with autism or other cognitive needs through interactive, down- loadable guides. On Oct. 28, the Town's Accessibility Advisory Committee unanimously endorsed the purchase of 15 card decks, to support rec- reational and social servic- es, at an upstart cost of $35,000, as well as an addi- tional $5,000 annually be- ginning in 2022. The Town does not keep statistical information on persons with disabilities residing in Halton Hills, and therefore cannot pro- vide an estimate on the number of potential users. In 2018, the Town of Oak- ville paid a development cost of $5,000 to implement the program with five decks of cards based around Oakville Transit services. The Town of Oak- ville pays a $1,200 annual fee for use of the app. Since the Aug. 2018 launch, there have been over 500 views of the card decks. Just over a year ago, the Town of Milton implement- ed the app for the Town's transit services at a cost of about $7,500. Since then, the decks have received about 60 views per month. "Aside from the num- bers, it's important to rec- ognize that Milton Tran- sit's partnership with Mag- nus Mode builds on our vi- sion to promote mobility and independence throughout Milton," Jessi- ca Rabaey, communica- tions adviser for the Town of Milton said.
