Each lunch will cost $5 and pick up will be at noon at Georgetown Hillsview Active Living Centre. This is proving to be quite suc- cessful and a way for us to support our local restau- rants. This all came about through a grant and the hard word of Matas. How does it work? Sher- ry sends out the menu on Friday for two weeks in ad- vance. Once you have de- cided on one or all three lunches, you call 905-877- 6444 to have your name put on the list. Payment must be made by the Thursday of the week prior. Payment is made by cash, placed in an envelope with your name and put in the drop box between the entrance doors at the rear of the building. Again we are opening up the 50/50 draw. If you would like to participate, please put your toonie in an envelope with your name on it and put it in the bin provided between the doors at the main entrance. We must not forget Val- entine's Day is fast ap- proaching. To celebrate, the centre is having a "Val- entine's Day" draw for a free 2022 membership. The draw will take place on Feb. 12 at noon. While the centre is tem- porarily closed, virtual ex- ercise programs are avail- able. Learn more about what is offered by contact- ing the town's recreation hotline at 905-873-2600 ext. 2275 or email recre- ation@haltonhills.ca. If you have trouble setting up Zoom, call Sherry at the centre for assistance. Keep the faith, my friends. Like all things, this too will pass. OPINION TIME TO PLACE YOUR ORDERS HILLSVIEW NOW OFFERING DRIVE-THRU LUNCHES, WRITES FLORENCE RIEHL FLORENCE RIEHL Column To the editor: Regarding the Norval West bypass, I was un- aware that the Region of Halton was investigating options to reduce traffic at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Adamson Road. I want to thank whoever left a notice on my doorstep outlining Halton's propos- al for the Norval Bypass and providing a link to Hal- ton.ca. I have completed Hal- ton's online survey, but in my view the entire initia- tive is misjudged and myo- pic. Instead of trying to solve the problem at one inter- section, the Town of Halton Hills should be evaluating the entire transportation structure. The solution being pro- vided is short-sighted and will only increase the traf- fic that drives directly through our town. Instead of the current proposals, the town should be looking at a Georgetown bypass similar to Bramp- ton's Hwy 7 bypass. There should be a road around Georgetown either north, or south, of Hwy. 7 to carry trucks and commut- ers. Widening Hwy. 7, to be another Steeles Road, will increase noise pollution and affect the lives of those residents who live in the vi- cinity. Additionally, although not part of the Norval West Bypass proposal, the Town of Halton should be looking at the amount of cars and trucks using Eighth Line. Houses back on to this road, and increased traffic is affecting the quality of their lives. Widening Eighth Line and Miller again makes no sense. It makes far more sense to use Trafalgar Road and No. 5 Sideroad, or extending Mayfield to de- crease traffic through the town. A Georgetown bypass would resolve both Norval and the Eighth Line issues. The Town of Halton Hills should have taken transportation into ac- count when providing ap- proval of subdivisions and not be dealing with it as an afterthought.
