To make a memorial contribution or to send the family a condolence message, please visit www.jonesfuneralhome.co MORRISON, Joan Leslie 22 February 1930 - 23 January 2021 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ MORRISON, Joan Leslie (Turnbull) passed away peacefully in her home in Burlington, Ontario after a tough fight with cancer and Covid-19. She was born and raised in Hamilton and was one month shy of her 91st birthday. She was predeceased by two brothers Don and Robert of Hamilton, and daughter Susan Morrison- Shoreman (Frank). Joan is survived by sons: Doug (Wendy) of Burlington, Ken (Deborah) of Vancouver, Rick (Bev) of Kelowna and Brian (Laurie) of Kelowna. Joan is also survived by eleven Grand- children: Spencer (Rhiannon), Mitchell, Mackenzie, Matthew (Alisha), Amanda (Matthew), Meaghan (Andrew), Ryan (Julie), Kendra (Mark), Bradley, Eric and Daryl-Susan. Also eleven Great-Grandchildren: Alfie, Neve, Margot, Tristan, Taya, Tatum, Jamie, Kyle, Ayden, Jack and Kaia. Joan will also be missed by many cousins and friends. In 1967, Joan and her family moved to the Baltimore, Maryland, USA area then out to Vancouver, BC before returning to Baltimore. She returned to Ontario in 1971. Joan finally found her place in 1990 working as a civilian with Peel Regional Police Service. She officially retired in 1995 but did not stop there. Joan became a founding member and helped start the Peel Regional Police Retirees Association (PRPRA). She started on the Board as Secretary, then Treasurer and lastly President. She was Lifetime member for 20 plus years. In 1998 she joined the Police Pensioners of Ontario (PPAO) and was on the Board from 2000 to 2013. She also ran the Box Office for Halton Hills John Elliott Theatre from 1995 to 2011. In her spare time, she made porcelain dolls, was a member of the Red Hat Society - Red Hat Rebels of Georgetown and was a member of the Hamilton Hydro Club from 1948 to present. Joan enjoyed singing. Sang in the church choir, 1963 - 1967 sang with the Hamilton Opera Company, 1988 - 1989 with the Cosmopolitan Opera Association in Toronto, was a member of Sweet Adelines Scarborough Chapter, North Metro Chapter and the Burlington - Mississauga Chapter. She faithfully supported her sons in the Barbershop Harmony Society and travelled to many conventions. Joan was also a member of the Halton Regional Police Chorus for 8 years. The family would like to thank the wonderful support our mother received throughout her last months and final days.
