He was the third child of Pieter and Froukje Eckhardt. He was given an English name to honour the liberators of Holland. Ten years later the family immigrated to Canada, landing at pier 21, in Halifax, followed up by a very long train ride to Toronto. Harry lived in the surrounding area the rest of his life. On July 10, 1979, he married the love of his life Joan Goldthorp. Sadly Joan left this world in 2012, and on January 31, 2021 Harry followed her. Harry is survived by his sister Elly Stutz, his sister in law Nellie Eckhardt, and 8 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Joan, his parents Pieter and Froukje Eckhardt, brother Frank, sister Ena, and brother in law Thomas Stutz. Cremation has taken place. Due to covid a celebration of life will take place at a later date. Special thanks to Joyce, Mike & Michelle, and his buddies at Timmys.
