The Town of Halton Hills has a new plan for long-term economic pros- perity, growing non-resi- dential investment, local job creation and support- ing strategic decision-mak- ing. The new five-year Eco- nomic Development and Tourism Strategy was ap- proved at the Feb. 1 council meeting. "Since the Town's exist- ing Economic Development Strategy was approved in 2012, and the Tourism Strat- egy in 2015, countless demo- graphic, technological and economical changes have taken place," Mayor Rick Bonnette said in a prepared release. "This new strategy will position Halton Hills to take advantage of current and future economic op- portunities, while also re- sponding to the challenges posed by COVID-19." Bonnette also said par- ticipation by businesses and residents in implementing the strategy would help the Town reach economic devel- opment goals. "Reaching this mile- stone would not have been possible without the valu- able input provided by a va- riety of stakeholders throughout the course of this project," Damian Szy- balski, director of econom- ic development, innovation and culture for the Town, said. "The strategy builds on many successes achieved over the years and leverag- es ongoing initiatives, all contributing to strength- ening Halton Hills' econo- my, attracting investment and supporting our local businesses."
