The Town of Halton Hills has approved a re- quest by the DGBIA for a 25 per cent reduction in 2021 DGBIA membership lev- ies. The levy is collected au- tomatically by the Town from all commercial prop- erties within the BIA's specified boundaries and is the main source of revenue for the organization. The funding is used to provide programs and ser- vices to businesses within the Downtown George- town area including the fa- çade improvement grant program, marketing of the downtown and its busi- nesses, cleaning, beautify- ing, and decorating the downtown and organizing community events such as the Downtown George- town Farmers Market and the Rock'n Roll'n Classic Car Show. "Like many small busi- nesses across the country, our members have been through a lot financially over the past year," Jamie Watt, DGBIA board chair, said. "That is why we decided as a Board to provide some relief of our own to the membership, while still be- ing able to provide much needed services to busi- nesses and the community. We want business owners to know that we're in this fight together." The shortfall in revenue will be replenished from the DGBIA's reserve funds. Business owners are also encouraged to contact their landlords to pass on the levy reduction in their rent.
