For the last 43 years, The Georgetown Hockey Heritage Award recipient has been celebrated at our dinner on the first Monday in March. Unfortunately that will not happen this year, but the Hockey Heritage Council would like to remind you of our continued commitment to Georgetown hockey and community events. The Georgetown Hockey Heritage Council was formed in 1977 . Its mandate is to recognize individuals and groups who have contributed to Georgetown's storied hockey history. Since 1978 the Georgetown Hockey Heritage Award has honoured contributors to the Georgetown hockey community. It is presented every year at the annual Hockey Heritage Dinner. Other achievements are recognized through Citation Awards and the Ezeard Memorial Plaque, awarded every three years, and Patrons Awards and other trophies and plaques donated to local hockey organizations. Georgetown hockey achievements are recorded and presented in display cases at the Mold-Masters SportsPlex and on municipal entrance signs for our citizens to be aware of and take pride in. The Hockey Heritage Council fosters "Living Heritage" providing for the opportunity of past glory to be retold by collecting memorabilia of past events and co-ordinating with the Halton Hills Sports Museum and Resource Centre on hockey projects. Through events such as our Oldtimers tournament, the Hockey Heritage dinner, and our Nevada draw, the GHHC shares in fundraising projects with Georgetown service clubs and the hockey community that benefit all of Halton Hills.
