Halton residents aged 75 and over (born in or before 1941) and Indigenous adults aged 55 and over (born in or before 1966) can now book their COVID-19 vaccines through the region's web- site at halton.ca/COVID- vaccines or by calling 311. The appointment is con- tingent on the availability of vaccine supply. Dr. Hamidah Meghani, Halton's Medical Officer of Health, said in the media release that as the vaccina- tion program ramps up, "I want to remind residents that the COVID-19 virus and the transmission of the variants is still very con- cerning. "Vaccines are just one important tool to help stop the spread of the virus and we must remain vigilant - please continue to stay home as much as possible, limit close contact to peo- ple you live with and go out for essentials only." As for the weekly CO- VID-19 cases, the Region's website shows that from March 12 to 18 there were 293 new cases in Halton, down from 299 the week be- fore. As of March 19, the num- ber of active cases stood at 293, including 28 in Halton Hills, 75 in Milton, 117 in Oakville and 73 in Burling- ton. There have been 10,253 COVID-19 cases in Halton during the pandemic, with 9,760 marked as resolved and 200 deaths.
