It will be before a judge. Both parties attend with their lawyer if they have counsel. Currently, conferences are being conducted via Zoom. It is confidential and without prejudice. Anything filed in support of, or said during the conference cannot be used in the litigation; this is to foster full settlement discussions. Before the conference, you (or your lawyer) will serve and file a brief, setting out what it is you are looking for and an overview of the facts supporting your position. The judge will give her/his views of the case, in the hopes that the parties will seriously consider the opinion to help them make decisions to settle the case. The judge may have been your trial judge, so it is important to consider her/his views. Good luck, and get it settled! We do a lot of family/divorce law, with offices in Georgetown, Brampton and Caledon East. In light of COVID-19, we are doing most everything virtually. So we are happy to have a Zoom meeting or a telephone call without charge to you to see if we can assist you. Have a great weekend. Empowering Clients. Enriching the Community. A local non-profit orga- nization is striving to fill the gap between seniors served by Meals on Wheels and those still in need, which has been made all the more urgent by the pandemic. With March for Meals Community Champions Week well underway, Links2Care -- which pro- vides the Meals on Wheels service in Halton Hills -- has set a goal to garner more support for the cru- cial program that helps se- niors remain healthy and independent at home. Local resident Mavis Nicholson is quick to attest to the benefits of the pro- gram -- something she's been taking advantage of since signing up in 2015 at the urging of her doctor. "All the food is very good, especially the meat pie with carrots, but what I really like is the people," she said. "The volunteers and staff provide excellent, personal service and really show they care. The co-or- dinator, Brenda Peddie, is such a sweetheart, she even slips me butter tarts because she knows they're my favourite." According to Links2Care staff, Meals on Wheels delivers more than just subsidized, nutritious food, also providing clients with social connections and wellness checks that can flag otherwise unde- tected issues. "Seniors like me are all alone a lot of the time, so having someone to talk to even for five minutes can be a lifesaver," said Nichol- son.
