MODEL YF6H1ME US 0 MODEL RW1H2MES The Halton Hills Fire Department is urging residents to take precautions fol- lowing an investigation that's revealed a bathroom fan is the likely cause of a recent Georgetown house fire. The Chaplin Crescent blaze the evening of April 8 caused an estimated $750,000 in damage, and according to the Town of Hal- ton Hills, the Ontario Fire Marshal has linked a bathroom fan to the fire. On Twitter, the municipality also said that the fire department "wants to remind residents to turn off bathroom fans after use and ensure they are cleaned regularly as dust and lint buildup can be a fire haz- ard." The Ontario Fire Marshal "continues to investigate make and model numbers of fans, installation methods, etc.," stated a separate Tweet from Halton Hills fire offi- cials. Deputy Fire Chief Bryce Marshall said a quick response and the "set up of master streams" contributed to keeping the fire contained. No injuries were reported. Since the fire, the Halton Hills commu- nity has been rallying for the family that lost their home, with a GoFundMe page es- tablished to help support them. - with files from Bryan Myers NEWS BATHROOM FAN PROBABLE CAUSE OF FIRE: ONTARIO FIRE MARSHAL MELANIE HENNESSEY mhennessey@metroland.com PLEASE RECYCLE THIS PAPER
