The Halton Hills Public Library has partnered with Food for Life Halton, the Georgetown Bread Bas- ket and Acton Foodshare to ensure everyone in the community has access to healthy foods. As part of the partner- ship, community fridges sponsored by Food for Life and funded through Halton Region have been placed in both library branches. The fridges are stocked with pre-bagged grocer- ies, including fruits, vege- tables and other perish- ables. "The idea was that peo- ple can just come and ac- cess a bag of food," said Lo- ri Brading, north Halton community lead at Food for Life. "There are no ques- tions asked. The food is there and available for peo- ple who need it." Non-perishable items will be available as well, provided by the George- town Bread Basket at the Georgetown library and by Acton Foodshare at the Ac- ton branch. Acton Foodshare will begin participating in the program after the provin- cial restrictions are lifted. Depending on demand, the food will be replenished as needed.
