The Inter County league came to a close, on the fields at least, last weekend with the playoffs cup finals at Cedervale, looking good with fresh cutting and lining, last Saturday. There is one match to play, the knock-out Challenge cup final between Merseyside and Meadowvale — a first division ver- sus second division tussle. Second division play off winners are Eagles who defeated league winners Meadowvale by 1-0 in a backs to the wall victory. Both teams exhibited different styles of play and physical challenges and kept the referee very busy. Two Eagles, and one Meadowvale, play- ers were given the ejection/red card treatment and a few others were cautioned/yellow carded. Jamie Walraven scored the important goal on a.second half surge past three defenders and trailed the ball into the net. Meadowvale struck wood twice and missed many opportuni- ties to score. Both teams should be promoted to the first division next season. The first division final was won by Merseyside who scored goals without reply from Mariners to take the cup back to Brampton. USA 1994 is the place to be for soccer and Canada should be there, with all the support we can gather. So, even if we are finished here, soccer goes on somewhere else all the year round. In Mosquito action, the top play- er on the Frizzell Electric team was Ben Muggridge, most improved was Graham Sukhiani and most sportsmanlike was Daryn McIntyre. Andre Savard was the MVP for the Advance Woodworking club, with Anthony Pacevicious earning most-improved player honors and Jacob Wiktor claiming the most sportsmanlike award. The Acton Pharmacy MVP was Jason Mota, with Bruce Milligan being named the most improved player. Danny Gorelewski was the most sportsmanlike. D.J. King was Super Sub’s top player, with Bobby Parent being named the most improved player. Derrick Inscoe was named most sportsmanlike. As for the Acton Cleaners team, Thomas Mahon was the MVP. Shawn Gray was the most improved, with Paul Lemiski named the most improved. In the pee wee division, Bob Bard was the Al and Al Meats MVP. Jason Virgin was the most improved player and Scott McIntyre the most i player in the girls under-17 divi- sion.
