Halton Hills This Week, Saturday, November,7,,1992 — Page.21 KIDS' page Strange Tales It’s such a monotonous life we live these days. A boring and mun- dane existence based on routines that we blindly fall into like. the grooves of an old dusty record. What do we do to take away this feeling of unimportance in the -scheme of things? What is it that makes life worth living? Is it not the pleasures that life gives us periodically like the scent of a rose? A, smile on a friend’s face? Possibly. Somehow I feel that something went seriously wrong in the last one hundred years. Where have all the great men gone? People like Shakespeare, Galileo, and Einstein just don’t exist anymore. For life to have meaning we must use our talents to their fullest extents like Shakespeare and Galileo. We need the means by which to develop our imaginations in order to make life worth living. Hence, the comic book. Yes, my friends, the comic book is the central reason for man’s existence in this temporal universe. My friends, the comic is the meaning of life! Well, now that I’ve explained life, the universe and practically everything there’s not much to write about, except maybe this new line of comics called “Valiant”. What are they? Where do they come from? And who the heck do they think they are writing such good material anyway? And why am I asking so many stupid questions? Valiant holds 2.59% of the Piece Share for August’s Comic Book Market Report according to Capital City Distribution. Valiant titles consist of “Magnus Robot Fighter”, “Solar”, Harbinger”, “Shadowman” Corps” and their newest addition “Bloodshot”. The artwork is matched only by their creative plotwork and scripts. The stories are intelligent, full of action and suspense; they portray not only the central characters in a realistic manner, but also the world they inhabit. Valiant’s success stems not only from their top notch artwork and stories but also from their severely limited print runs. Harbinger #1 was only 40,000 copies to the mass market. It’s present value is well over $100. Because of their low-key style, speculators and dealers alike didn’t “load-up” on back-issues, and when the mass-market finally realized how good the Valiant by Captain Comic back issues are, prices shot through the roof, and fans began hunting down the hard to find back issues. The Fourth Dimension has only recently stocked Valiant, a good investment to any speculator. So that’s Valiant. Good art, good stories, and great investment. What more could a comic fan want? Daughters of Knox So for all you investors, Captain Knox Presbyterian Comic suggests Valiant as basic Church ~ Acton Blue Chip stock! (That means good.)
