Here in no particular order is that list. -- The RSI proposal to convert the Acton Quarry into a landfill site disappears forever. -- The Interim Waste Authority rejects sites B15-b and B22-d -- the sites that abut the eastern border of Halton Hills --are pulled from the list potential dump sites for Peel. -- Halton Hills councillors continue to perform to the best of their abilities keeping in mind that they are on council to serve the people of this community. -- A turn around in the economy. -- The New Democratic government in Ontario gets away from scandal damage control and starts implementing some real policy that gets this province running again. -- The Progressive Conservative government in Ottawa finally gives Canadians what they deserve -- a federal election. - -- If an election is called, we hope that a leader that we can trust and believe in comes forward. -- There are no further needless deaths in the former Yugoslavia. -- Halton Region continues to be the relatively safe place to live that it has always been. -- Local foodbanks become obsolete and unneeded. -- Sunshine and heat throughout the upcoming summer. -- Health and happiness for everyone. Wastewise says thanks Dear Editor: The partnerships which have evolved with local businesses assist Wastewise in providing services to our community. We would like to highlight some of the interesting but “hidden” ways in which busi- Terminal Warehouse, a book distribution company, provides an excellent example of a mutually beneficial partnership. Employees separate and deliver their recyclables to Wastewise and pick up certain types of used paper to package books. The company has reduced disposal fees and purchases less new newsprint — both of which reduce waste. In return for the ser- vices that Wastewise offers, Georgetown Terminal Warehouse Provides parking space as required and supplies and delivers skids. Mold-Masters, a manufacturer of hot runner system for the injection plastic industry, is lending Wastewise a plastics grinder. Chipped plastic bottles, tubs, and lids require much less space which improves storage capacity and teduces transportation costs. Having donated two pallet jacks and many hours of free service, Bos Lift Truck Service Limited keeps the recyclables at Wastewise moving! a supplier of building materials and concrete to contrac- tors and home owners, provided wood, hardware, drywall and insu- lation for the education centre and the wall for the office. Georgetown Home Hardware also donated building materials for the office all. Curwood Packaging manufac- tures flexible film packaging for the food industry. In addition to providing rolls of clear plastic tub- ing (from which we make extra large bags for plastic bottles and tubs), Curwood has just recently started shipping our processed plas- tic to a plastics recycler in Lindsay, Ontario. ak&a Desktop Publisher Services have produced advertisements, newspaper fillers and camera-re: artwork for a number of different projects at no charge to Wastewise. Broomhead Printing continues to offer Wastewise excellent rates for printing requirements. A 10% dis- count on office supplies offered by Office Magic helps reduce our operating costs. Local newspapers (like this one), publish information (like this), which helps keep every- one informed about this project.
