On his visits, the 1988 Citizen of the Year in Georgetown and President of the Canadian College of Teachers (Niagara Chapter), has addressed the fe (Organization and Cooperation of Overseas evelopment) Conference on the latest researches in Education, gave workshops, written papers on reading and learning styles, and took teams of Ontario educators to work in areas of curriculum development and assessment, Computers, Special Education and Guidance and Counseling. During his visits to elementary and secondary schools, Mr. Ramautarsingh saw the great need for books and éducational materi- als. With the assistance of Michael Frederiksen (Peel Board of Education and a member of the first team to Grenada), about 4,000 books and educational materials were collected. These included class sets of novels, Shakespearean plays, drafting, accounting, histo- 840 ry, geography, english, mathemat- ics, science and other reading materials. “The books and educational materials have arrived in St. George’s, Grenada. It is a wonder- ful Christmas gift. Sharing and helping another Commonwealth country are things Canadians do best and the people of Grenada deeply appreciate this kind gesture and great assistance,” Ramautarsingh said. Mr. Ramautarsingh had great praise for several local businesses for their cooperation in bringing to reality “Operation stacking the libraries” in Grenada.They includ- ed: Georgetown’s Terminal Warehouse for transportation), Foberts for storage, the McEnerys of Limehouse for storage, trans- portation and manpewer. A big thank you also went to Bob Sanderson of Bramalea where the two huge truck loads of materi- als were loaded into one of his container.
