Flamborough claims win over minor novice Raiders The minor novice Raiders hoped to take the series lead on home ice on Sunday, January 24, but time was against them. The action- packed game saw Flamborough score first, 1:02 into the first period. The junior Raiders squad came back fast and strong, with Brett Velten scoring his fifth goal of the season at 6:08. At 6:56, Andy Burns scored his second goal of the season to tie the game again. Teamwork and passing earned Billy McDonald and Thomas Stokes the assists. With great offense and defense by the Raider squad, and consistent goaltending by Donnie Lane, all couldn’t come together to take the game into overtime. Flamborough won the fast-paced game 3-2, scor- ing with one second remaining on the time clock.
