Carr ended Brampton’s hopes, however, at 4:10 with a picture goal as he took a soft blueline pass from Davis, wheeled by the defenceman and fired it into the upper right corner. Roy added the icing when he slid a shot under the goalie’s pads with seconds left to make it 4-1. Assists were by Vervoorn and again by arr. The Hurricanes now advance to play either Burlington or Ching next weekend. In a mainly defen- sive series, blueliners Ryan Taylor, Stuart Colvin, Jon Atley, Robert Haringa, Matt Vervoorn and Richard Trotter held Brampton to only two goals. Coach John Mallany feels this team, barring injuries, has the potential to go all the way. Carpet Barn splits games Although Carpet Barn Pee Wee house league team doesn’t play body contact in their league, they showed where they were on the ice in Durham this past weekend. In their first game, Danny Cabral scored a nice goal with assists going to Curtis Gregson, Danny Jackman and Cory Rees. Sam Butt put another marker on the board with assists by Matt Burns, Danny Cabral and Thomas Arnold. After two periods, Carpet Barn found themselves tied at two. In the third, Georgetown came out flying. Cabral got his second of the game and earning assists were Chris Mands, Jason Watt and Glen. After three periods, the score was tied at three. With parents on the edge of their seats and nervous coaches, over- time starte Eight seconds into overtime, Cabral got his hat trick and assist- ing was Gregson and Chris Cunningham. ; In game two, Carpet Barn faced off against Mitchell who were a Minor Novice Raiders lose in semis The Minor Novice Raiders trav- elled to Dundas on Sunday and suf- fered at 4-1 loss in the first game of the semi-final play-offs. The series is a best 3-out-of-5 games. The entire Jr. Raider squad held strong keeping the first period scoreless, with Donnie Lane mak- ing a couple of great glove saves. Dundas opened the scoring netting the first two goals in the 2nd period. Carpet Barn were down 5-0 when Butt opened Carpet Barn scoring with an unassisted goal. Then ‘Cunningham showed everyone how it was done by getting his first goal of the tournament. Assists went to Rees, who played his best two games this year in the tournament. Carpet Barn was knocked out of the tournament after losing 8-2 to Mitchell. Coaches Josh Barber, Dave Frost and Kevin Spears said everyone played great and goalie Mike Kelly played awesome. When Nick Toris was needed, he came up with some big saves to help out Carpet Barn A big thank you for all support given. Unfortunately, Freddy Roffel prior commitments and Mark Quaglia, out with a broken hand, couldn’t play. Carpet Barn players and coaches were proud of how the team played in the tournament and would like to wish Mark Quaglia a speedy recovery. The Raiders goal on a pass from Andrew McGourty. The Raiders offense end defense were able to hold the score 2-1 at the end of the second.
