Municipal awards night Last Wednesday the Town of Halton Hills Municipal Awards Evening 1993 was held at the John Elliott Theatre. - Award recipients included a daz- zling array of cultural and athletic talent from across Halton Hills: two Olympic athletes, world medallists in a variety of endeavors, artists of distinction. » _ in the category of Outstanding Cultural Contribution, Ross Carlin and the Georgetown Ladies Pipe Band were honored. Ross Carlin revitalized the national anthem and formed the O' Canada Foundation. The Georgetown Ladies Pipe Band celebrated 50 years of cultural con- tribution to Halton Hills during Individual Athletic Achievement recognition went to Katie Rowland, for competitive gymnastics - Novice National Team Gold Medal; Rob Wands, for his track and field endeavors and being an OFSSA gold medallist in 300m hurdles; Duane Erler for golf, he was the Ontario Golf Association’s Best Ball Champion; Ian Windsor, also for golf and attaining the Ontario Golf Association’s Best Ball Champion; Mark Fedchyshyn, for figure skating - he won the Preliminary Men’s Provincial Champion; Melanie Jans, for squash - 3rd place in National Competition and 6th place World Track and Field Association, and member of. the 1992 Canadian Olympic Team; Shannon Crawford, rowing - gold medallist on the Canadian Women’s Olympic Rowing Team, Barcelona; Cara Kato, judo - Canadian National Gold Medallist; Deanna Guignard, baton solo competition - Ist place in Eastern Canadian Competition, two baton solo, medley and freestyle competitions.
