New 4-H clubs formed in the 'fad By Betty Sojka Much appreciation goes out to - the anonymous newsletter sponsor this month. This newsletter is full of dates of activities happening in the coming weeks. A pancake brunch was held after the Sunday service. On Saturday there will be a mini bingo and dance plus entertain- ment. Judging from last month’s bingo, this should be a super evening so get there before 8 o’clock for the best seats. For the first time ever in Ballinafad, a 4-H Club for children between the ages of 10 and 12 years, called Explore 4-H, is meeting on Wednesdays after school. During the course, mem- bers will learn all about 4-H. They will cover topics such as sewing, cooking, learning about the envi- ronment, recycling and animals. In their first meting, members learned to sew a hem and button. Andrew Sukhiani is the Press Reporter. Linda Mitchell is leading the club, assisted by Erika Mitchell as Junior Leader. Nine members have formed another 4-H Club calling them- selves the “Ballinafad Bullions”, which is a kind of sewing stitch. This six-week session is a sewing club being led by Doreen Burt and Linda Mitchell. Their first meeting was on Feb. 22, where the follow- ing officers were.elected: President: Cheryl Burt; Vice President: Erika Mitchell; Press Reporter: Jennifer Mitchell. The secretary duties will be served on a rotating basis amongst the members. A fun remembering game was played. Twenty-six items on a tray were passed around for the group to memorize in afew seconds. The highest number remembered was 14.
