The 1993 Arbor Award of the University of Toronto will be pre- sented to Tom Ramautarsingh, President of the Canadian College of Teachers (Niagara Chapter) on April 28 at a ceremony in Toronto. The award recognizes outstand- ing and superior volunteer service to the university over the years. The letter of announcement states, “In recognition of your com- mitment to the University of Toronto, the faculty and staff with whom you interact have chosen to honor you and your fellow alumni volunteers with this award. Your dedication, demonstrated through many hours of volunteer time, is truly an inspiration to us all.” Tom Ramautarsingh, in reply to the announcement said, “It is a sur- *prise-and an honor to be made a recipient of this coveted award. A local business contacted police after a male person who identified himself as Brett called and was attempting to sell advertising space in a Region of Halton publication. The male called on several occa- sions during the first two weeks of February and was very persistent. The caller indicated that he rep- resented the Halton Regional Police Service and when the company stated they did not want to purchase any advertising space, he became very aggressive and abusive on the telephone.
