Py . is a priority Noel Duignan, MPP for Halton North, presented a cheque in the amount of $368,740 to the Regional Municipality of Halton on behalf of the Minister of Environment and Energy, Bud Wildman. The cheque represents final payment for two water pollution control projects funded under the Direct Grant gram. “I am delighted to have the opportunity to present these funds to the Regional Municipality of Halton,” Mr. Duignan said. “I fully support Halton’s commitment to clean up local water pollution by expanding its control facilities. All citizens of Ontario have a right to clean, healthy water. The Direct Grant Program lets the ministry work with its municipal partners to improve water and sewage works across the province.” The Direct Grant Program funds improvement of water distribution and sewage systems in both urban and rural communities. Typical projects include: building of new ommunal water and sewage works systems; upgrade of private water supplies and sewage disposal sys- tems; construction of rural water - pipelines; repairs to water distribu- tion and sewage collection systems; and pollution control planning stud- ies, The amount of $266,038 repre- sents the final payment for the suc- cessful expansion of a regional water pollution control plant. The remaining $102,702 is the final payment for Halton’s southeast water pollution control plant expan- sion, Spaghetti dinner at Student Athletic Association at Georgetown District High School will be hold- ing its annual spaghetti dinner and Silent Auction on Thursday, April 1, from 5-8 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
