Pickells was the head sensei (teacher) and Widdess was his student. Widdess is now an assistant sensei at the new Pickells Karate Academy in Brampton. This | larger academy has replaced the one in Georgetown, but still caters to Georgetown students. Pickells has appeared in five movies - Black Pearls, Tiger Claws, Talons of the Eagle, TC 2000 and SFX: The Magic and the Mayhem. He was introduced to movies by Jalal Mehri, with gvhom he was traveling and competing. Mehri purchased a production company, began making martial arts movies, and asked Pickells to appear in Black Pearls. Pickells subsequently introduced Widdess to movies. They appeared together in SFX: The Magic and the Mayhem, along with eight of the top students from the Pickells cadem Both men are looking forward to the making of Final Goal. The movie will be about the 1994 World Cup in-soccer. Soccer star Pele is to appear in the movie, as is Eric Estrada from the T.V.show C.H.LP.S. Pickells is looking for- ward to playing a new role. “I’m a martial artist. The movies are fun but I don’t really like mixing the two. I want to play someone else - maybe a bad guy,” admits Pickells. Widdess is looking forward to the extended coverage. “ It’ll be fun. I love doing new things,” claims Widdess.
