Playoffs intensify efforts in girls indoor soccer By Ruth Taylor As playoffs begin, indoor soccer teams are displaying the result of the winter’s work. In the play of the week, Blue player Sinead Irvine stopped the ball off the wall at one side of the yellow goalie crease, and passed to teammate Katie Morris on the other side. Katie then put the ball in the net at an unstoppable angle. All games are now 24 minutes so that each team will play the other teams in a round-robin over two weeks. Blue player Kirstina Zelek stopped one with her midriff and then aimed a ball at yellow goalie Jennifer Elliott who stopped it by sliding into it. Yellow players Kerri Neilson and Alanna Zelek played. well in defense. Teammate Colleen Thompson had one called back fale (ole) metolorer-\ because of the goalie crease rule. Yellow player Branwen Williams netted one from a defensive posi- tion 3/4 of the way down the court when the ball bounced weirdly. Blue players Lindsay Sproule and Paula Gougeon played good body defense to keep the game at tie. In the game between the Red Devils and the Purple team, purple player Katharine Tuitman was busy bouncing balls off door frames as she cleared the corner balls from red player Lisa Campbell.Purple player Angie Crane headed the ball as it fell straight down after a near ATHUR F. In the third fast game, the Red Devils and the Blue team stopped all balls with body parts. Brianne Evers-Jordan and Bethan Elliot played both ways for the Red Devils. Red player Kim Moore perfected her headers with three leaping bounces in a row as she steered the ball toward the goal.
