Only about 50 people came out for the Karioke Dance Night. Held at the community centre, many an adventurous soul got up to sing. Mother charged with assault A 60-year-old Georgetown woman was charged with assault Friday morning after shoving her developmentally handicapped “daughter twice. The incident, which was witnessed by a North Halton Association for Developmentally Handicapped bus driver, is not the first one. The mother had been warned several times because of the same offense. She will appear in court June 28. Smash and grab thief An unidentified suspect broke into a Mountainview Laundromat on Mountainview Rd. Sunday around midnight, and then broke into the adjacent Mountainview Variety by smashing a hole in the drywall between both establish- ments. The suspect entered the laundro- mat by breaking the lock on the rear door, then smashed a 30 by 45 inch hole in the bathroom wall, which enabled him to enter the freezer section of the variety store. The suspect took an unknown quantity of cigars, cigarettes and lottery tickets. According to a police report, the suspect knocked over a key-cutting grinder on his way out, which trig- aXe) | (ex=m = 1-1-5 gered a noise-activated alarm. The suspect fled the same way he entered. Nothing was stolen from the laundromat. Police continue to investigate the incident. Windows damaged Over $3,500 damage was caused Thursday between 12 a.m.-7 a.m., when an unknown individual shot pellets through the front window of the Georgeview Restaurant on Guelph St. in Georgetown, and the window at the adjacent Joseph’s Hairstyling establishment. Police believe that more than 24 shots were fired and suspect a B.B. gun or pellet gun was used. Police are still looking for the culprit. When the Jim Dandies tackled the Red Hots in last Friday’s game, the cold temperatures and high winds made it difficult for both teams to concentrate. The cold just seemed to seep into the players’ muscles. Many a ball hit out field got help from.a gust of wind, that sent it far past the fielder’s out- stretched hand. It was a night for fielders to scramble on both teams, and both teams earned points in the double digits. The Jim Dandies came out on top with a win. Anyone taking a walk through the park will now see soccer posts installed. We are that much closer in having a soccer pitch, due to the kindness and generosity of Bruno Carnelos.
