The runs spread was too wide for the seventh inning to be played. The Mighty Ducks started out strong and then faded as the game progressed. All the Jim Dandies had no trouble hitting. Batters were able to get some bunts in succes- sively as well. Their game on Wednesday night was cancelled due to poor field conditions at Acton’s Prospect park, with water on the diamond. Those of you who have occasion to drive through the school park- ing lot on the way to the pool may have noticed a difference in the way students use the area, Until last week, the back lot was a popular place for students to congregate to play hacky sack, lis- ten to car radios, visit with one another or to have a cigarette. In the past, we have told the stu- dents to consider the line where the blacktop meets the grass to be the school property line. In this way, students would have a place to smoke without having to con- gregate on the narrow front side- walk, where pedestrians’ right of way might be blocked and high- way traffic might present a danger. However, it has become clear that the number of students using the parking lot, combined with the steady flow of cars passing through the area has created anoth- er safety problem. We have therefore stepped up our supervision of the area and requested students to use only the grassy area.
