Eight teams will be partici- pating in the Rec Committee’s 3rd Annual Mixed 3-Pitch tournament. Games will start around 8 a.m. Saturday morning. A Beach Party Dance will follow in the evening beginning at 9 p.m. J.V. Sound will be the D.J., bringing along some really neat dance tunes. Tickets for the dance are on sale now at the Ballinafad General Store. Cost is only $7.50 per person. Spot and door prizes will be award- ed. Come dressed in your beach wear. A light buffet will be served up by the Rec Committee. This group is putting on the dance and tournament as a fund-raiser for the park. If sunny skies prevail, it will be a great weekend Two successful Branch outings By Harry Archer The fishing trip on July 4 was well-attended, and according to all reports, it was an unqualified success with everyone bringing home a fish. Thanks to Doris Bouley for her time and efforts in organizing this yearly event. The bust trip to Orillia took place on July 10 and judging by the member’s Legion Lines comments on their return to the Branch, they had a fan- tastic day. It is with deep regret that I report the death of Comrade Denny McCartney, who passed away on July 7. It took some fine defensive action to keep from being slaughtered. At their last bat, the team pounded in enough runs during a lucky break to beat the Panthers by one run.
