Morris,16, who plays for the Burlington midget team, struck out 41 in 25 and 2/3 innings, started four of her team’s five games and also held a hot bat, hitting .583; second-best in the tourna- ment. Oshawa ( which won the tournament) was so impressed with the play of Morris they asked her to join the squad for the Canadian championships. “I was very excited and bouncing off the walls when * sl Shannon Morris they called me and asked me to play for them,” said a jubi- lant Morris. I was kind of surprised when they called because I didn’t even know wey could take other play- In fact, each provincial champion is allowed to add two players from any team (provided they agree) for the Canadians, which makes the accomplishment even more remarkable. Morris, who attends Georgetown District High School and pitches for the Rebels is excited about what has transpired this year for her. “This is the best year I have had, we have a great team and went farther than ever before in the provin- cials. We are a young team (which also includes Sherri Peacock, another Rebel play- er) and I think we'll have some good years. I’m look- ing forward. to the Canadians,” she said. Country Style Orioles - 13 Halton Public Storage Cubs - Friday night gave Orioles their third decisive win of the week. Cubs’ running force was curbed by a fly ball catch by David Luck, and excellent Justin Hilts - Richard Welsh - David Luck relay, and Matthew Hess who posted two pickoffs at 2nd. Chris Kirk led the offense with a double and a triple.
