They wentall out and pro- duced a full length debut CD. Into Highland Studio they went, and out came a bunch of freaks or , pardon me, that was “Freak”, their debut col- lection of cuts! Crimson Jimson is almost like a fami- ly. They’ve been together for over four years and believe in letting loose and having fun at.their shows. So if you get a chance to catch their show, it’s sure to be a blast for all, (caution, bring your earplugs)! “Freak” was produced by Ronan Klun and Crimson Jimson band members, John Connoly (guitars), Frank Szegedi (bass), Andrew Young (drums), and facto- tum of, the band Scott Bell who writes all the music, lyrics plays leads and vocal- izes. The band hails from Hamilton. Angry, volatile and aggres- sive is the way the music and vocals come across, making curiosity twitch with incom- prehension. What was going through Scott’s mind when he wrote this stuff? And if this is angry and aggressive, what will the next Jimson album be like? Unfortunately, Crimson Jimson’s “Freak” hasn’t had much airplay (if any at all), but their sold-out debut is full of intensity - perhaps too much intensity for radio. From love gone bad in “once around”, to the after life thoughts in “I’m there”, the tracks will tickle your mind and provoke air guitar endowment. The music pulls back a bit in “misery” seem- ingly to let the lyrics reign over all. But don’t get relaxed ‘cause the next track, which is my personal: favorite, “bye bye sanity”, is a string-sling- ing killer with lots of varia- tion to keep things fresh. The “patie needs a beer”, “notion”, “slow”, which is a favorite of many people, and the final song “D.C.B.”. From the first time I lis- tened to “Freak” it’s been a favorite in my collection. Up beat, straight ahead heavy tunes to tantalize your ear drums. Good rockin’ fun, that’s what Crimson Jimson is all about.
