The Raiders won two of three games and in the process won the consola- tion final in the NHL Mini Tournament at Etobicoke this past weekend. The tournament attracted other rivals in the Raiders’ Provincial Junior A West Division loop. After dropping the open- er 14-5 to the Markham Waxers, Raiders came back to beat Streetsville Derbys 6-5 in overtime on a Tervor Brandt goal and then win the consolation championship over the Brampton Capitals in con- vincing fashion, 10-3. ome of the question marks for the Raiders heading into this year were Doug Shepperd goaltending and.defense but goalies Jason Stinett and Nick Montessano played solid, according to Raider assistant coach Jay Anderson. Ellis had six goals and four assists including a five-point night against Markham and Brandt had two goals and three assists in the three games. “Brandt and Ellis are gous to eat up the league this year,” said Anderson. “If you didn’t know them before, you will this year.” The Raiders play two exhibition games against Markham this weekend, Friday in Markham and Saturday at Gordon Alcott Memorial Arena, game time.7:30 p.m. Season is set to go There is a pos- division Mone By Alex Tough sibility the Industrial League will commence this evening (Wednesday) at the Legion.
