Georgetown seniors get bus service By Eileen Ross Georgetown’s senior citi- zens will have something new to smile about this com- ing Tuesday. Thanks to the merchants of the Georgetown Marketplace, a free busing service will be implemented to provide seniors with a reliable source of transportation to Georgetown’s Marketplace. ~ The bus stops are located at all four of Georgetown’s senior living complexes. The pick up schedule is as fol- lows; at 10 a.m., the bus will arrive at Kin Court near Hyde Park (close to Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital), then it will héad to Cote Terrace (Main & Maple) at 10:15 am. At 10:30 am., the bus will arrive at 8 Durham St. and by 10:40 a.m. it is sched- uled to reach 11 Sargent Rd. Shopping time runs from llam. to 1 p.m. Passengers will disembark at the food court entrance to the Marketplace, located between Sears and Coffee Time Donuts, and make a return run approximately two hours later. Although the bus does stop at the seniors’ complexes, non-resident seniors can make use of the new busing system as well. Keep in mind however, the busing program is purely experimen- tal until Christmas. Keeping this worthwhile program going depends on how much use is made of it. For the seniors, a service like this creates transporta- tion that is both reliable and hassle-free. Missing man visited his brother By Oksana Buhel Police had an eventful weekend when a 52-year-old Halton Recovery House resi- dent escaped custody from a staff member. + The man was being treated at the Recovery House, located on Trafalgar Rd., north of Steeles Ave., for drug and alcohol abuse, but because of serious withdraw- al symptoms, he was trans- ported to Milton District Hospital early Saturday PAY NO evening. En route, the man jumped out of the car when it stopped at a red light at ales ar and Highway 401: The man fled into the bush, and when the driver attempt- ed to stop the man, he grabbed a steel pipe and threatened him.
