After a valiant fight, the Northern surren- dered and was in the net. Andres’ prize weighed in a 11 pounds and was 33 By Mike Leuenberger Special to HHTW The Northern Pike is a fish with a dual personality as far as anglers are con- cerned. Large pike are defi- nite bragging rights material; a real contender for the ulti- mate fresh water trophy fish. Local junior angler, 9- year-old Andres Corley was trolling on the Magnetawan River..He thought he had snagged the bottom or some rocks. His uncle cut the engine and they attempted to. free his lure. When Andres’ reel started peeling out at a rapid rate he knew he was not snagged and that the fight had just begun. He battled with the large fish as it swam. for the bot- tom time after time, trying to break the hook free. The contest between the young fisherman and the mighty fish continued for 15. inches long. He was trolling at approximately four miles an hour using light tackle and a rainbow-colored rapala.
