By Eileen Ross. Georgetown District High School will begin a fundraising project on Monday with hopes of raising enough money to finance a new computer lab with a new file server and new computers. The new computer lab will cost approximately $20,000 and the new file server is estimated to cost between $8,000-$10,000. The campaign will see GDHS students selling magazine subscriptions to raise $60,000 — only a third of which the school actual- ly receives. * The ultimate objective is to achieve the first comput- er literate graduating class. This goal has been difficult to attain because of the lack of reliable resources on hand at the school. When the busing service first began on Oct 5., Florence Smith, of the Halton Senior*s Health €ouncil, felt the seniors’ “™ Concerns*had "been over- looked because the pro- posed shopping day con- flicted with activities and clubs that had already begun for the year. “They just didn’t do their homework,” claimed Smith. The merchants ~ of Georgetown -Marketplace were responsible for implementing the seniors busing service with the pur- pose of providing free, reli- able transportation to Georgetown Marketplace. Herminia Henderson, man- ager of Georgetown Marketplace, and also responsible for the seniors busing, said “The idea of a change of shopping day was responded to favorably by. the seniors I have spoken to.
