RoboCop 3 offers a very disturbing picture of the future. Instead of the free- dom from hunger and want offered in shows.such as the Star Trek trilogy, we are pre- sented with a future torn by class division, under privi- lege and violence. The future is also an ugly place for women. They are verbally abused and have no place in the top corridors of power. However, the female charac- ters remain uncorrupted and champion the rights of the downtrodden. The strongest scripted female role is given to the leader of the under- ground movement, played by CCH Pounder.
