The show will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Wright Street and is presented under the auspices of the (CCA) Canadian Cat Association. Admission to the public is: Adults - $3; Family - two adults and two children - $8; Seniors and Children - $2. Thirty-five breeds of pure bred cats will be there from all over Canada and also the U.S.A. There will be 150- 160 cats in all competing. Madge and Bill Turner who live in Acton will be there with their Balinese cats, competing in the long- lass. There will also be some of their cats‘owned by other people competing in other classes at the show. The Turners have been breeding their Balinese cats for 14 years and have sent some of the breed to other countries. Two cats were sent to South Africa about four years ago and have done well in that country. Mrs. Turner said that at that time ‘there was none of that breed in that country and they imported her two and some other male and female cats from the best breeders in California. “We were very pleased that our cat got best Balinese and best Oriental cat two years ago and their descen- dants- are being shown and are winning in shows in South Africa,” said Mrs. Tumer. The Balinese cat is a mutation of the Siamese breed. Many years ago breeders noticed in. the Siamese breed that some kit- tens were being born with longer coats and they bred these together and found that the coat was much softer and a breed of cats developed with a longer coat and a plumed tail that does not need grooming. Balinese cats are very lov- ing and intelligent, their voice is softer than their cousins, the Siamese and one advantage they have is they do not shed. They have the same point markings as the Siamese and come in all the Siamese colors.
