Billy McDonald, Andrew McGourty and Brett Velten were the first game marks- men with Velten, Jeff Boyce, Scott Rostrup and Vince Burke notching assists. Andy Burns was the game’s MVP. In their second outing against Caledonia, Velten, Burns and McDonald fired the counters with Matt Knoepfli collecting two helpers and single assists going to Burns McDonal and Brent Beaumont. Goaltender Donnie Lane was the game MVP. The Raiders did collect some tournament honors, however, as Lane was the top goaltender in the penal- ty shot shoot-out, and Beaumont emerged as the top gunner. By Mara Fantegrossi Special to HHTW The Georgetown PDS Minor Atom Raiders ended their regular season play before the Christmas break on a high note, undefeated in the last three games and elevating their record well over the 500 mark to 16-7-2. On Dec.18, the hometown Raiders defeated Brantford 7-2. Although Brantford scored in the first, Georgetown dominated from the second onwards. Ronny Larocque netted the Raiders’ first two goals with Graham McCulloch assisting. Kyle Hotham then added the third goal of the second period from T.J. Monaghan, Scott Pike, Tim ‘PDS Raiders coming Mansfield and Binsell. Ryan LaRose played a steady game between the posts. On Dec. 21 at Alcott, despite having three players sidelined, the Raiders dumped on their visitors from Ching 6-3, Hotham got the first marker from Busby with a shot on the ice catch- ing the far corner. Then Binsell fired in the rebound from McCulloch’s shot, with Black also helping out. Ching got on the board before the end of the first with a powerplay goal, and then they tied it in the sec- ond. In the third period, Georgetown took over with four goals by Alex Durham, Hotham, Busby and Mark Fantegrossi. on strong Adding single helpers were Hotham, Mansfield and Snow. In net for the Raiders fending off the Ching attacks was Chris Henderson, backed up by his defense team of Black, Doug Martin, Busby and Mansfield. In Milton, the Raiders ended up skating to a 1-1 draw. Most of the squad wasn’t feeling 100 per cent and it showed in an unchar- acteristically sluggish game. Fortunately for Georgetown, in the.third period Hotham came up with the play of the game, taking a pass from Busby, rushing down the wing, deking the goalie and burying the puck behind him.
