Description
536 Main Street. Built in 1891. In 1891, Thomas Board, owner of the Dominion Glove Works, built the present structure to replace his previous tannery which had burned down earlier that year. The new tannery was built of brick and sported a firewall at each end to prevent further disaster. The tannery also had a 40 foot chimney located at its north end. Dominion Glove Works was bought by Joseph Beaumont in 1906 as a complement to his Beaumont Knitting Mills. Today the original brick has been sided over and the building is used as a private residence. The present owners are Jacki McCartney and Dale Mieczainiec.
