PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE A very happy new year and new decade to all members of the Esquesing Historical Society! What an exciting decade awaits us. Since joining the Society in 1982, I have watched it grow and mature. It was a small local interest group when I joined, but I have seen our archives established and grow and our resources for exploring local history multiply. Our membership has increased dramatically over the past year and it reflects every corner of our township. We now boast 81 members. Even the politicians seem more aware of history, which can only be to our benefit! Many thanks to Vern Denny of Acton who supplied the Society with a bus for our December social. The turn--out was disappointing but the twenty people who did come certainly enjoyed themselves. A transcript is being prepared of our November meeting with Bill MacDonald and Al Norton. It will be made available as soon as possible. Ann ten Cate is also transcribing the Stewarttown meeting with the Lawson Brothers. After serving as President of this Society for 7 years, it is my intention to step down at the February meeting. I will certainly continue to take an active role in the Society, but it is time for another to take on the top spot. Please consider helping for a year on the executive, if not as President.
