With the retirement of Norval Postmistress Joan Carter on 12 October 1990, the full postal facilities at Norval ceased to exist after 154 years. Dorothy McLean, a member of our Society and of the Norval Women's Institute summarized the history of the Norval post office for her Institute. A report on this work appeared in the October 31st issue of the Georgetown Independent. Rev. Rick Ruggle published an article on the Norval Post Office in October 1986, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.
