ESQUESING HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEWSLETTER _March-April 1991_ The Georgetown Train Station Georgetown's VIA Rail station was built in 1855, and is the last surviving station built by Sir Casimir Gzowski for the Grand Trunk Railway. In an article in the Toronto Star, 9 February 1988, EHS member Richard Jordan wrote about alterations to preserve historic features of the structure while modernizing its facilities, making the building energy efficient and making it accessible to the handicapped. The station has been renovated several times over the years, including a major addition in 1904 that added the now unused marshalling tower and an attractive wooden ceiling to the interior.
