The following article was published in The Acton Tanner in Nov. 1993. Historical Crewsons Corners by J.M. Rowe Esquesing Historical Society The link across generations was provided by the Esquesing Historical Society last Wednesday evening, when several branches of the Crewson family gathered at Knox Church, Acton. The November meeting of the Esquesing Historical Society was convened to explore the history of Crewsons Corners. While achieving this goal, there was another benefit derived by all when about 15 members of the Crewson clan gathered from Elora, Guelph, Bramalea, Waterloo, Georgetown, Milton, and Corbyville, with a link to California! They happily shared memories and stories attaching the Crewson family to the community named in their honour. Joining the throng of Crewsons were local modern residents and people from the four townships which comprise the Corners -Esquesing, Nassageweya, Eramosa and Erin. With the help of Mrs. Pat Taillefer and her daughter the way of life at the Corners was reconstructed for all. The Greenock Women's Institute also shared their information accumulated over many years. We heard about the Church, now a private home, and its long colourful history, especially the special role played by Charlie Lambert in keeping it alive as part of the community. Picnics and dancing to Franks' Orchestra were recounted as well as the ongoing search for the mother-lode of oil. The history of the hotel/store as well as the post-office was recalled by several people. Stories of
