xhubsday march lgih ims the acton free press acton ontario eight boxing bouts attract crowd to y the second boxing show this year was held in the y m ca gym nasium last thursday evening march 12 with the attendance be tween 80 and 90 eight bouts were featured during the even ing and a door prize of groceries was an added attraction terrific improvement in actual boxing from the first show that was put on in juanary was the most noticeable thing in the entire show this fa attributed to the fine work of the y boxing instructor don clayton in the first bout bui tiger dawkins and freddy wildcat dawklns tangled in a good fight which was looked forward to by the spectators since in the first how the tiger cut hft lip and the fight was stopped in the first round this time he clawed through to a finish in the featherweight bout brian checkers mccristal and kenny the duke redfern met for the second time and again put on an excellent show with the duke showing decided improvement ov er the last show an evenly matched fight with plenty of action was the paper weight bout ted jumpy moyse opposing wayne stoker mason jump showed much better than he did in the first bout the stoker was having his first go at it and did remarkably well the fourth bout the flyweight was gentleman jim lindsays first fight and he held up very well against the improved wild bui churchill without a doubt the fifth lead weight bout showed the most act ion of the evening don wind mill lindsay and andy pandy williams clinched frequently a couple of times uie audience ex pected them to start dancing peter pan newton continually forced the issue in the lightweight bout and had billy the kid mc coy a little bit in trouble at times mccoy settled down in the third round though and held his own un til the end the surprising thing about the deadweight encounter was that it was freddy freckles graham s first fight and he was in against a heavier and more experienced man richard sad eyes massey lie was able to hold his own though both are very good box ers a fine finish to a very enjoyable evening was provided by bill the basher greer and howard the hawkt jank this extraweight bout the eighth of the
