guests easter service held in chapel wjedjjesday of last week was truly a jredletterday in the activ ities of the halton manor hobby class for on the evening of that day the class entertained a repres entative group of guests who be long to st johns united church in oakville as well as the men resident of the manor the guests from oakville were some- of the ladies of the womens association of st johns church and their hus bands not only did the members of the hobby class have the pleasure of welcoming these guests from oak ville and from halton manor but they also had the pleasure- of ex hibiting the various finished articl es of handcraft upon which they have been working for the past eight weeks the ladies of the class feel that they can be justly proud of the various articles which their direct or mrs eric clarke the matron of the manor had arranged for dis play along one side of the dining room in a very artistic fashion the social evening was held in the din ing room which also serves as an assembly room for social purposes a knitted afghan made from a number of brightly colored strips a crocheted three piece chesterfield set several crocheted doilies cro cheted lace for towels a tatted doily an embroidered table run ner an embroidered tea towel a knitted dish cloth several typical squares for a dresden plate quilt and eight decorated vases were all on display and drew many admir ing glances from the visitors mrs e l wilson was the leader of the group of oakville ladies and e l wilson acted as chairman the program opened with a sing song led by mr ray moore white muriel thomp son the secretarytreasurer of the hobby class described the evening as a wonderful climax in the eight week existence of the class and invited these guests to view any displays of handicraft that may be arranged in the future mrs clarke added her own person al speech of thanks to the guests and to mr and mrs pickett who had come to help the oakville guests left a supply of
