25 years since father morgan celebrated h i s first mass in st josephs church as pastor there by serving the same parish for a quarter of a century father morgan before coming to acton was pas tor of maoton with ldnwood as a mission for 19 years also for a short time he looked after the spiritual needs of the catholics of elmira during the 25 years here he has seen many changes and much progress of the tqwn of ac ton but also in the parish he not only recalls the demise of rrtany old time merchant businessmen clergy and profes sional men but many others an the town and in the parish and their place taken by others and also the growth in population manufacturing industries new buildings schools and homes having been a native of an old time ihockcy town collingwood which has won many intermed iate and junior oha champion ships he took a keen interest when acton was in the intermed iate oha group and competed with georgetown and milton and was a glad and proud fan when acton won many gone during his 25 years of pastorate which is not the honor of too many pastors he has laid to rest many of the old time parishioners whom he loved in caring for his flock he has made christians through the sac- ramcnl of baptism of a large number of both babies and adults he has administered the sacra- inents of penance and holy eu charist thousands of times and prepared hundreds for the sacra ment of first koy communion and confirmation he has joined many in the bonds of marriage and humorously re ma r k s he hopes they dont hold that against him to the sick and dying he brought great encouragement and consolation regardless of race color or creed all are considered the same to him when it comes to fulfilling the teachings of his church which is to love thy neighbor and this neighbor is mankind in every de scription and without any excep tion of persons even who injure us or differ from us in religion fathcrmorgart always enjoys a good joke or- a good story and generally has a good one to recip rocate with his motto is in or der not to have enemies make friends changes at church v during the past 25 years of his pastorate of st josephs paris many repairs and improvements were made to st josephs church in fact the whole structure both inside and outside has undergone a complete improvement and change in the last quarter of a century of which the parishioners may well be proud in like manner he has made im provements to thct rectory in which he lives and welcomes par ishioners on any parochial busi ness separate parish besides looking after the spirit ual needs of the parishioners of st josephs acton father morgan looked after the spiritual needs of the catholics or georgetown for 15 years from 1941 to 1956 when the mission of st josephs par ish acton became a separate parish there too father morgan made many repairs and improve ments to the ehurch and bought the adjoining properly and brick residence on the corner of john and guelph streets which was the rectory until the new rectory and church were built while pastor of holy cross mis sion lin georgetown father mor gan made many friends of the cit izens of georgetown future
