campbell she is survived by her daugh ter miss luena m campbell georgetown the following is the annual report of the wa of halton centennial manor the halton centennial man or womens auxiliary had a busy and very successful year ih 1966 ten regular meetings were held four being preceded by a pot luck luncheon there were several special work meetings held the world day of prayer was observed in the chapel on february 25 and was very well attended by both men and wo men the february and march birthday parties were both sponsored by the auxiliary the r rally for the homes for the aged was held at halton centennial manor on march 30 auxiliary members whowere able to attend enjoy ed it very much on may 11 the annual spring bazaar and membership tea was held a penny table baking sale and the booth which sold the resi dents handicraft work were the most popular the resi dents realize a good sum of money from this wprk a lucky draw on a large quilt crib quilt and a hooked rug completed the day this is one day whenmany donations are sent in from au over the county friends and relatives all came to th- thf zaar from near and far and it is a time when many happy faces are seen during the after noon and evening in the middle of the sum mer a lovely bus tour around the countryside was enjoyed by about 60 residents residents in special care were given treats of ice cream during the summer months in september the annual convention of homes for the aged was held at london for three days and mrs s a allen the president acted as annual christmas party was held with the cooperation of the manor santa claus made his visit and left a gift for ev ery residenta lovely program and a delicious hutch made this a very happy day the manor is always beauti fully decorated by the manor staff for ah special days and seasons and they must be commended for this the entertainment and re freshment committees worked very hard to make all the par ties held a big success and a memorable one for the resi dents a birthday party was held month the usual birth day cake was the centre of a decorated table at which the residents who have a birthday in the month are the guests of honor a short program and a delic ious lunch are provided by var ious organizations or church groups throughout the county the auxiliary and the resi dents are very grateful to those who host these parties several bingo games were held during the year the auxiliary would like to thank this newspaper for pub lishing the various meetings and activities held at the man or to all who have given of their time and talents and for many acts of kindness to the residents the auxiliary is deep ly grateful and wishes every one a happy year in 1967 mrs bess cullion secretary guest speaker at st albans the rev edward b- g hea ven will conduct and address the 1030 ajn service at st- al bans this sunday january 22 mr heaven recently held the position of chaplain to angli cans on the campus at mo- ttertfniversity hamilton- he is now assistant to the dean of graduate studies a few years ago fr heaven and his young family spent a year in switzerland at the centre for ecumenical studies at basle shortly after his re turn he became engaged in ec umenical encounters with the clergy of hamilton one day along with other hamilton clergy led by a rabbi he found himself in the front m ranks at selma alabama am- auxiliary delegate and attend ed all sessions on the second day three auxiliary members attended for the workshop and handi craft demonstration- and brought back many new ideas handicraft work is done ev ery morning at the manor and every thursday afternoon in september the residents had a good display of handi crafts at the fall fair twenty- ong those freedom marchers peacefully searching for a in the church for friends attending the fun eral of the late lochlan mc millan an invitation was re ceived to attend the presby tery meeting to be held in ac ton during the next week instead of taking the months study from the prescribed book mrs a j buchanan who during her visit to the far east interested herself in the religious beliefs of the peo ple gave a most interesting talk in opening her address with kiplings east is east ahd west is west and never the twain shall meet she pointed out that there are many roads to eterriity and only in christ there is no east nor west she pointed out the different outlooks on life their crowd ed existence our abundance of room told of the japanese chinese polynesians and peo ples of the otherislands she said although they had beauti ful temples and their kindness and sociability have a lesson for us she visited mckay memorial hospital in taipei and spent a few minutes with miss taylor who is a missionary working through the womens mission ary society it is a beautiful hospital and doing excellent work instead of the usual reading of scripture and prayer mrs buchanan had members listen to the taped church service of kawaiahao church in the heart of honolulu in this they heard not only the scripture prayer and hymn singing but the inspired message of the mmisterand the delightful singing of the choir it was a beautiful reverent ending to the service all felt they were especially privileged when they were able to attend this meeting during the tea hour mrs r m macdonald the member of longest standing was surpris ed when she heard happy bi being sung and saw mrs buchanan bringing a de- licious cake with its lighted candles to honor her on- her natal day j- if all meetings are as inter esting helpful and pleasant as this
