secretary lois hunter sub mitted the following report tor the past year it has been my privilege to serve as secret ary of the halton junior farm ers and it is with pleasure sub mit the 32nd annual report during the year we held 12 regular monthly meetings in the department of agriculture office in milton with an average attend ance of is february 24 the halton junior farmers hockey team went to ustowel to participate in the j f tournament wilms mason also represented halton in the junior farmer queen contest in the tournament in ustowel during late february we re ceived a cheque for 1500 from the estate of the late ernest irvine on march 11 we held our an nual drama festival at st pauls united church in hilton the palermo clubs play was adjud icated best with gwen kovachlk as best actress and brian car- till as beat actor at the cuelpb conference march 17 to 19 brian cargiu bill cut bob newell doreen harrop wuma misoi marilyn klrkwood joy hayward lots hunter and verna thompson re presented halton our annual church service and fireside hour was held april 30 si st pauls united guest speaker was mrs pat kerr 196768 provincial junior farm er president with brotherhood as her subjact our- semiformal dance was held hay 6 at leisure lodge preston highlight of the even ing was crowning of carol swtck- bamer as the new junior farm er queen with joy hayward and petty madiu as runnersup the contest was adjudicated prev iously at the county board meet ing may s hay ib to 31 united kingdom delegate hiss judy close wait ed halton and 13 members of the halton juniors visited expo 67 hay 19 to 22 on a trip or ganized by wellington junior farmers our county field day was held hay 27 at acton high school with a dance following at night at brdokvilto hall halton junior farmers part icipated in the iunlvlk project of the provincial junior farm ers by col leering used books tor children in the north west ter ritories several halton members par ticipated in the guelph area field day july 8 at the prov incial field day august 12 a donaldson competed in the mile race the baseball playoffs be tween the three clubs was held july 14 at hornby baseball park with the palermo boys emerg ing as winners our county board picnic was held august 27 at the home of lois hunter with everyone en- joying themselves bui alexander and marilyn klrkwood enjoyed a weok insept- ember at the junior farmers provincial leadership camp at geneva park on lako couchleh- lng doreen harrop represented halton on the eastern ontario bus trip in august bill sinclair was our delegate an the united nations bus trip in september at hilton fair only norval and acton showed displays with the following placlngs norval junior institute grade b acton junior institute grade a and acton junior farmers grade c at acton fall fair we had safety equipment on sale while at the georgetown fall fair we sold pop donuts hot dogs cof fee and safety equipment this proved to be a very successful venture november 5 we sponsored a car rally although only eight ears were entered it was a fair success the junior farmer plowing hatch was held september 9 at the farm of stan hay nafc hornby the halton junior farmer choir along with the haltonettes and earl burt provided an even ing of musical entertainment for the hlllsburgh presbyterian church during the latter part of november december 1 the halton junior farmers sponsored a centennial ball as their major centennial project about 140 people at tended this evening at the agri cultural hall milton as our community betterment project at christmas we took a busload of 45 senior citiaens from the county to tour the tor onto christmas lights followed by entertainment and refresh- meats at the boyne community moire brian bessey attended one point behind tha winner the halton junior farmers are now selling condlos for the world literacy campaign halton members are busy pre paring for the bowling compet ition and for the hockey tourna from the department of agri culture halton was proud to have three of its members represent us on provincial travelling scholar ships they wore ruth mason who went to british columbia ernie alexander who attended the alc annual meeting and brian bessey who went on the hugh bailey memorial tour wo have had a very success ful newsletter published by edit or brian bessey and his hard working committee other events participated in by halton junior farmers during the past year included the zone drama festival cne judging competition guelph judging competition local fairs the dairy princess
