friday night program a long parade with four bands and many floats drew the crowds down to the fair grounds saturday the crowds still jammed the midway at midnight that night while a dance was underway in the arena sundays interfaith service was attended by about 500 acton grade 1 2 student zenith armstrong was crowned miss acton fair friday to wddly enthusiastic applause of a partisan crowd first runnerup is donna barry from erin district and second runnerup joanne laverty of rockwood followed by leona synnotl and linda pearce of acton four bands studded the big fair day parade shortly after noon saturday acton citizens band headed the parade with mdton and georgetown pipe bands and the ukrainian youth association band coming at intervals the ukrainian youth association band played several numbers in the park during the afternoon these young people often play at the ukrainian camp near town crowds lined the streets to see the parade miss acton fair contestants decorated one float although some of their number were further behind in the high school float its the first time the high school entered and they placed first in the novelty category judges were bruce r n browns property the company wishes to develop 25 lots on the east side of churchill rd north and council has accepted in principle a subdividers agreement on a recommendation of no i committee no be fully controlled by council councillor tyler was concerned about other lots the subdivider might develop in esquesing township mr hinton said councd could donothing to interfere with the lights of the subdivider the area was zoned properly for budding and the subdivider could force council to let him use his eroperty as he sees fit as long as e conforms to the plan of subdivision councillor
