friday morning with a ling tons and goodbyet but it wai really anticlimatic to wednesday nights parade and kogram which for the flnt time ill tix year hlitory broke the rain jinx led by acton citliens band and a huge banner identifying the participant the parade left live park and proceeded up mill st to hie high tchool where a successful program wat held in the auditorium theme of this years parade and program wat fairy tales all the fanciful characters were there including snow white and snow white and the ten dwmfs a new angle on tho old fairy tale was reconstructed by the playoround children on this float in the wednesday parade and later in a concort photo staff placard carriers in tho play ground parade lost wednotday identified tho fairy tato characters for hundreds of spectators who applaudod tho floats and fairy talo characters istalf photo the ten dwarfs cinderella jack and his beanstalk sir thanks a lot uit and a half pluto and his friend donald duck leaders ellen wissenr and sharon elleiby the group received use ben raclilin trophy at the presentation later in tlie program in the tradition of all fine parades theie wete places of honor picked to tepiesenl the two playgrounds one at the paik and the other at the lush school were cindy mcgllloway and bruce mcphail in one convertible and denite paton and mike dawson in another they weie introduced as mr and mist of lied respective playgrounds there weie witches eggs dollar signs fairy godmothers a golden goote princes and princesses fairies queens dwarfs dancing gills and a host of knights and gallant ladies and untlemen from the pages of long long ago skits and playlets on tlie stage at the high school were highly imaginative knights like sir thanks a lot rescued maidens in distress cinderella foiled her stepmother jack climbed his bean stalk show wlute found her prince and the combined high school cast presented a series of skits labelled laugh and a half cue cards and scenery were all made by the playground children helped by leaders the audience gasped when cinderella rode off on a modern version of the stage coach a mini motorbike another feature popular with the audience was the presentation of awards to the leaders like a toe warmer to bare footed mary ann freuler a big box of popcorn to supervisor don price a six foot comb to larry quinn a halfcent pay- cheque to jeff cooper a big stock of cardboard gum to parks manager harold townsley and a broken tail pipe to joe mane marchment as a reminder of the day the snapped leader prices off his car mayor
