will be no election for this next monday however as a bylaw bas been passed and advertised pro- wkung for a vote on the twoyear council term an election will be held far this purpose on monday january 8th a lively discussion centred aftnmd this point during mondays meeting a few of the ratepayers ex pressed their disapproval or going to the expense of an election merely to vote on this one question it was ex plained that it was impossible to fol low any other course as a bylaw to tins effect had been drawn up and passed one attendant was in favor of taking a vote at the meeting and settling the introduced reeve w a wilson who dealt mostly with the county oonndl as it affects the municipality i can practically promise a hard- anxface road at the end of maple avenue next year he stated also explained that failure to get the tjwy road into proper shape during the summer could not be blamed on the county roads com mittee but was the fault of the con tractor who had not carried out his contract as early as promised how ever the gravel is now spread and x guarantee that the road wbl be good shape tins coming year he promised he explained himself as strongly gainst a county equalisation and be lieved that the members of the coun ty council could settle the matter amicably among themselves if they tried township finances are in good shape this year and he drew attention
